HGC is managed by a volunteer board of eleven trustees and a paid staff of two part time staff, one serving as secretary and bookkeeper, the other supervising maintenance of the cemetery. Grass cutting, grave digging, tree and road maintenance are contracted out to third parties.
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania requires that cemeteries keep aside 15% of all lot sales for the purpose of maintaining them in perpetuity. As such, Hickory Grove keeps a separate account for this permanent fund. In addition HGC has established a significant endowment over the last several decades for the purpose of assuring its financial stability.
